THREE HALEYVILLE MEN CHARGED WITH METH MANUFACTURING
BONDS TOTAL OVER $6 MILLION
Haleyville police officers, Andy Marbutt and Sgt. Rodney Shirley
attempted to stop a Ford Explorer on Highway 195 near the post office
early Tuesday morning. The vehicle did not stop. Turning left onto
14th Avenue, the Explorer continued to a residence at 2400 14th
Avenue. Marbutt, Shirley and K-9 Janssen searched the vehicle and
discovered a 16 oz. plastic drink bottle containing chemicals utilized
in a working methamphetamine (meth) lab. The latest method of meth manufacturing is a chemical reaction in a
single bottle, also known as shake and bake or one pot. It is still referred to as cooking, but not heat or stove is required. This
process can still cause a dangerous explosion or a serious health hazards when exposed to the chemical fumes. Also discovered in the vehicle were drug paraphernalia, controlle substances believed to be finished crystal meth and 10 pills,
believed to be controlled substances.
Consent was obtained and a search of the residence was made of the residence. In the basement, by products, precursors and waste material considered to be hazardous were found from previous "cooking" operations. Evidence indicated an ongoing manufacturing of meth at this location.
A hazardous materials clean-up crew was brought in from Birmingham to clear the vehicle and basement of the toxic chemicals.
